Impeachment. What Is It & What Are The Polls Saying?

Overview  This past week House Democrats announced they would be gathering their case for impeachment against President Trump (R). This all came about from a whistleblower report from someone inside the US intelligence service. While Democrats have been trying to create a case for impeachment with the Muller hearings, much of that momentum was lost without party leaderships backing. Nancy Pelosi (D) has come out in support for impeachment due to these recent revelations and has given the various investigatory committees the go-ahead for creating a case for impeachment. If you are not caught up on what is going on both with the whistleblower complaint or the Ukraine call CNN does a great job of laying out both in this article (you can also read my most recent blog post to see the full transcript (not verbatim):  https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2019/09/politics/whistleblower-complaint-annotated/ What Is Impeachment? Article 2: Section 4 "The President, Vice President and a

Ukraine Call Scandal: Pelosi Moves For Impeachment

This week since nothing is really going on on the Democratic side of the fence I wanted to focus on some recent events. This week Nancy Pelosi (D) (Speaker of The House) announced she would be proceeding with impeachment inquiries against President Trump (R). Pelosi decided to move forward with the proceedings after a call between Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. I will let you all decide for yourselves if you think the President deserves to be impeached or not. Tell me what you think in the comments. Here is the full transcript:

Third Democratic Debate

The third democratic debate took place this past Thursday. The candidates on the stage (in order of speaking time) Biden, Warren, Booker, Sanders, Harris, Buttigieg, Castro, Klobuchar, O'Rourke, and Yang. You can watch the full debate here (it is 2 and a half hours long) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UWVO0Trd1c This video by the New York Times gives some good highlights of the debate (about 3 min) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0OcUxsM0jw This poll shows how favorable current presidential candidates are/were after the debate. It is significant to see that Warren keeps rising in the polls and leads to the questions will she become the front runner of the race. .....Meanwhile on the Republican side there are some challengers to President Trump. While most states have canceled primaries, rivals are hoping to run as independents. The current candidates on the Republican ticket are Mark Sanford, Donald Trump, Joe Walsh, and Bill Weld.  There are a lot o

Current State of the 2020 Presidential Election

Current State of the 2020 Presidential Election I wanted to give an overview of the current state of the election. Here is some polling that I found and it looks like Joe Biden is leading the race. Many political commentators believe it is because of an "electability" factor, meaning he could potentially win against President Trump.  Latest Polls in Early Voting States Biden is also leading the polls among early voting states. These states are important in the political process not because of the number of electors that come from that state, but the media coverage candidates receive.  Here is a great Summary from The New York Times "Here is the latest. Sept. 6, 2019 The Democratic presidential primary is in a period of stability, though perhaps only a brief one ahead of the next debate on Thursday, Sept. 12. Joseph R. Biden Jr. remains the leading candidate, but he appears weaker now than on the day he entered the race. He has not gained
